SOFT SHACKLE USE INFORMATION
Each soft shackle comes with a section of loose fit abrasion guard that can be easily replaced if worn. These are available through C4RS or your local dealer. Use of the abrasion guards helps prevent damage to the soft shackle.
One end of the soft shackle has a slip loop (noose) which must be securely tightened around the opposite end knot to create a closed (circular) soft shackle. When the loop is placed over the knot you must then smooth the main body of the soft shackle starting at the knot end and working to the loop end and ensure the loop is securely fastened around the knot. Doing so evenly weights both the inner and outer lines. Not doing so will degrade the strength of the soft shackle. Position knot and slip loop joint in free space away from other recovery gear or your attachment point if possible (see pictures on front page).
When a soft shackle is loaded the Amsteel Blue® material may become stiff, flatten and appear glossy at the point where the soft shackle was in contact with attachment points. This is allowable as long as the soft shackle is not damaged and the small individual ‘hair’ fibers can be separated. See information below about when to replace a soft shackle.
- Soft shackles should be used on smooth & round surfaces if possible.
- Do not place soft shackles around sharp or angular objects.
- Not for lifting use or use during any life saving operations.
- The manufacturer of the base material advises not to use the base material for dynamic (snatch) recoveries or applications.
- Do not exceed the WLL of soft shackles.
Attach soft shackles to points that have a proper diameter. Diameters less than listed below could degrade the soft shackle strength.

WHEN TO REPLACE A SOFT SHACKLE
Discard the soft shackle if it becomes contaminated with a chemical, overly frayed, knotted, the knot comes undone or slips, one of the 12 strands of the base material is cut or anything occurs which could weaken the strength of the soft shackle. Contact C4RS or your local approved dealer with questions. When in doubt discontinue use of this or any vehicle recovery device and contact C4RS or your local dealer.
